Position Summary
The Assistant Superintendent supports the leadership and management of construction-site activities. This position helps coordinate field operations, subcontractors, safety procedures, production schedules, quality-control activities, inspections, and project documentation.
The Assistant Superintendent is expected to maintain an active and reliable presence at the job site and to work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, project staff, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, inspectors, and clients.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in multi-family construction.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support daily job-site supervision and coordination of active construction operations.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional construction site.
- Assist with administering and communicating the site-specific safety plan.
- Identify hazards, enforce safety requirements, and help correct unsafe conditions.
- Assist with OSHA visits, accident investigations, and safety-related reporting.
- Verify that subcontractors have executed agreements and required documents before beginning work.
- Participate in subcontractor preconstruction meetings.
- Create, communicate, update, and administer the four-week production schedule.
- Coordinate work schedules, site activities, subcontractors, deliveries, and project resources.
- Monitor progress and help maintain project schedule and budget goals.
- Review plans, specifications, bid documents, contracts, and subcontractor scopes of work.
- Identify conflicts, omissions, and inconsistencies in construction documents.
- Prepare or assist with RFIs, issue logs, ASIs, submittals, and other project records.
- Maintain record drawings and as-built information throughout the project.
- Coordinate and accompany government, third-party, architect, and owner inspections.
- Help identify, document, and correct nonconforming or noncompliant work.
- Assist with punch-list, project-closeout, and final-delivery procedures.
- Help resolve logistical, procedural, quality, scheduling, and scope-of-work conflicts.
- Participate in owner, architect, contractor, site-coordination, and safety meetings.
- Prepare daily reports, daily photographs, meeting documents, notices, and other project communications.
- Ensure assigned project documents are properly created and stored according to ECOM procedures.
- Provide support across multiple projects when required by business needs.

- Understanding of construction plans, specifications, schedules, and documentation.
- Computer proficiency, with emphasis on Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Viewpoint.
- Knowledge of dispute resolution and basic project-cost considerations.

Schedule and Working Conditions
- This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position.
- The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, beginning at 7:00 a.m.
- Early mornings, evenings, extended hours, and occasional weekends may be required.
- The position may require opening and closing the job site.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Work is performed in office and active construction-site environments.
- Assignments to multiple job sites may be required.
